Where To Live In Austin Area
Are you looking to move to the Austin, Texas area? With so many suburbs to choose from, it can be overwhelming. Justin Cofield, your Austin Texas area realtor, is here to help. In this article, he will discuss two suburbs that he is seeing tremendous things happen in: Georgetown and Kyle.
Georgetown, TX
Georgetown is about 45-50 minutes north of downtown Austin. It has a population of about 75,000 people and is the county seat for Williamson County. It has a great downtown square with shops and restaurants, and hosts events like the poppy seed festival and Christmas bazaar.
Homes
In Georgetown, you can find turn of the century homes with shiplap and wrap around front porches. There is also new construction in the 400s and 300s. On the west side of Georgetown, there is the Wolf Ranch shopping center with a new Costco and HEB. Further out, you can find the master plan community of Santa Rita Ranch with builders like Perry Homes and Pulte Homes.
Parks and Recreation
Georgetown has done a phenomenal job of accentuating the San Gabriel River, which runs through the city. There are parks, hike and bike trails, dog parks, waterfalls, playgrounds, and more. Lake Georgetown is also nearby, with Rocky Cliffs and three Corps of Engineer parks. You can pay a small fee to spend the day swimming, kayaking, fishing, and more.
Schools
The majority of Georgetown's elementary and middle schools get a B+ rating on Niche.com. Their high schools are getting A- ratings.
Kyle, TX
Kyle is about 35 minutes south of downtown Austin and is developing rapidly. It has an HEB Plus, Home Depot, Rudy's Barbecue, P Terry's Burger Stand, and more. There are several new build communities on the east and west side of I-35, including Anthem and Plum Creek. Six Creeks has a number of builders, including Highland Homes, Coventry Homes, and Perry Homes.
Schools
Kyle is lumped in with Hays School District and is getting B's on Niche.com.
Nearby Attractions
From Kyle, you can be in downtown San Marcos, downtown New Braunfels, and Northern San Antonio in 15-25 minutes. San Marcos has outlet malls and a university, while New Braunfels has lots of new development and tourist attractions.
Whether you're looking to move to the Austin area or just looking for a change, Georgetown and Kyle are two great suburbs to check out.
